Upcoming Elections

The next election is November 7, 2023. On the ballot are 14 amendments to the Texas Constitution. This website maintained by the Dawson County Elections Administrator has links to all pertinent information, the most valuable for this election being under the “County” tab. Here are direct links to each of those documents:

    • Information on hours and location of early voting

  • Election Day Polling Locations
    • Remember that when voting on election day, you must vote at the polling location for your precinct.

    • This ballot will appear very similar to the ballot used on election day and lists each amendment on the ballot in both English and Spanish. You may want to familiarize yourself with it before the election occurs

Important Dates

Keep track of these important dates for the election on November 7th:

  • Last Day to Register to Vote: Tuesday, October 10th
  • First Day of In-Person Early Voting: Monday, October 23rd
  • Last Day to Apply for a Ballot by Mail: October 27th
    • Please remember that the application must be received by the Dawson County Elections Office by this date regardless of the date of postmark. For more information on voting by mail, see this section of the Voting Guide
  • Last Day of In-Person Early Voting: Friday, November 3rd
  • Last Day for Ballot to Be Received by Mail: Tuesday, November 3rd
    • Please remember that the ballot must be received by the Dawson County Elections Office by this date regardless of the date of postmark. For more information on voting by mail, see this section of the Voting Guide
  • Election Day: Tuesday, November 7th

Early Voting Location and Hours

Early voting will take place at the Dawson County Elections Office located at 116 Austin Avenue in Lamesa.

During the first week of early voting (October 23rd to October 27th), the office will be open from 8am to 5pm each day for early voting.

The following week from Monday to Wednesday (October 30 to November 1st) the office will be open for voting from 8am to 5pm. On Thursday and Friday of that week (November 1st and November 2nd), the office will be open for voting from 6am to 6pm.

The Bexar County Democratic Party has listed amendments that will appear on the ballot and links to commentary for each to better understand them. Ballot measures, even when worded well, can be tricky to determine what a “For” or “Against” means.
